Maintenance

Maintenance and cleaning

While maintenance and cleaning can be done by the user, service and possible troubleshooting must always be done by an authorized alarm installer. For more information, refer to Service & Support.

A PROTECT Fog Cannon® requires minimal maintenance. It is cleaned with a dry duster or a slightly moist cloth without detergents, chemicals or solvents.

In case of activation of the fog cannon, we recommend effective ventilation for 20 minutes within the first hour. If the location is not ventilated in time, there is a risk of condensation of the fog particles. The condensation is harmless and can be removed by wiping all horizontal surfaces in the room with a slightly moistened cloth without detergents, chemicals or solvents.

Warnings

  • Fog fluid that has dripped on the floor underneath the machine in connection with activation of the system or the handling of fog fluid must be removed immediately due to the risk of slipping and falling

  • The system is manufactured for use in a dry, indoor climate and must therefore not be placed outdoors or in damp rooms

  • The fog fluid may not be ingested and must be kept away from children and animals. In case of ingestion: Contact a physician immediately

  • Never touch the nozzle or the grille in front of the nozzle. It may be hot and touching it may cause burns. Do not look directly into the nozzle

  • Flammable or heat-sensitive objects must be placed at least 35 cm from the nozzle

  • Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with clean water for a minimum of 15 minutes. If irritation continues, contact a physician. In case of direct contact with skin, rinse thoroughly with water and soap

Replacement of the fog fluid container

A PROTECT QUMULUS® (produced after September 1, 2014) and PROTECT Xtratus® are designed so that you as a user can replace the fog fluid container yourself.

Fluid containers for other models must be replaced by an authorized alarm installer.

The shelf life of an unopened container is 5 years and 2 years from the date of installation. If discolored, the fog fluid should be discarded.
