It had to be elegant, relaxed and cozy in the bank premises, which were therefore furnished with designer furniture and various IT equipment – and at the same time became an even more interesting target for burglars,” said the security officer, who together with a security consultant were responsible for all physical security of Jyske Bank, while another and larger department in Jyske Bank concentrates on IT security. The bank branches are once again traditional office landscapes, where the furniture is not so fancy, while the IT equipment in the workplaces is limited to a screen, a keyboard and a cable to the central server. “Today, we have strategic security of inventory and valuables instead of plastering it all over with security equipment. Because even though the branches are cashless, we still have money in the cash machines – the ATMs, as they are also called – as well as our own boxes and the customers’ personal safes to secure,” elaborated the security officer. He does not believe that cash will disappear in favor of payment cards, because they will be needed in connection with wars and crises such as natural disasters and major IT crashes.
