Dentists use fog against break-ins 

A wave of burglaries hit dentists around the country in 2012. The thieves went after dental equipment and other valuables and destroyed a lot at the same time. In many clinics, they were stopped by fog cannons, which quickly hide the clinic during a break-in. 

A search on the internet and a look in trade journals revealed that dentists were the target of many burglars in those days. The thieves went after everything of value such as computers, designer furniture, cash, medicine and – dental equipment. 

The police could not say much about the criminals. However, they did not believe that dental equipment stolen from several clinics could be traded in this country without other dentists hearing about it. Therefore, the police believed that the stolen dental equipment was sent to Eastern Europe. But they do not yet have the final evidence. 

Worst in East Jutland 

It seemed that East Jutland in particular was hard hit, but thieves in the rest of the country had also increased interest in the dental clinics. 

“We have been subject to break-ins several times. And here the fog protection has certainly had an effect,” says an employee at a dental clinic. 

The clinic had not yet lost any dental equipment, so she believed the thieves broke in because they thought the clinic had pills and other medicines lying around. But that was not the case. 

Instead, the thieves made off with, among other things, PH lamps and PCs during a burglary. After this, the clinic was secured more thoroughly, so that everything loose in the clinic is now locked down, locks have been put on the windows, and fog cannons have been installed so that the thieves cannot find the valuables when the fog has filled the rooms. And the classic lamps? They were replaced with cheaper models from IKEA. So the thieves were not later successful in the clinic at Frederiksberg. 

“The fog protection has certainly had an effect,” concludes the employee at the clinic.   

Dog food as a dividend 

At a dental animal clinic, they had also had good help from fog protection. 

“It’s not the big values they’ve got hold of, but they destroy for a lot of money with each break-in,” says an employee at the Animal Dental Clinic. 

But even after the clinic has been secured with fog cannons, there have been break-ins. But the thieves always have to escape with very few things. 

“Perhaps the thieves don’t read very well,” she smiled, referring to the posted signs stating that the property is secured by fog. On the other hand, the fog protection has meant that the thieves have only been able to steal a few bags of dog food.
